10 Tips To Optimize URL According To SEO Requirement



Both search engines and people prefer websites to have consistent, easy-to-read URLs. Here in this SEO tutorial we will explain how to optimize your website’s URLs for search engines and humans alike.

1. Informative URLs/User Readable URLs

If you want users to click on your URLs, you must use informative and user readable URLs so that people can trust on your link.

2. Short but descriptive URLs

Don't go for long URLs, keep your URL short but descriptive. It's good for providing better user experience.

3. Keywords in URL

  • When you share URL on social media or any other sites, people can view the URL when they hover on anchor text. If your URLs contain targeted keywords, visitor's interest will increase to click that link.

  • Sometime your URL becomes an anchor text and then it can be amazing with targeted keywords to get attention of users.

  • URLs are the part of search algorithms. We mean when user fires a query, the words in URL which matches with searched keywords are displayed in bold text. So it helps to get user's attention.

4. Don't do keyword stuffing

Don't repeat keywords in URL.

5. Exclude stop words to make URL shorter!

It means if URL A redirects to URL B, it is fine. Even if URL B redirects to URL C, its okay. But if URL C redirects to URL, it is terrible. Search engines can't process to so many URL requests for you.

8. Case Sensitivity in URLs

Try to keep URLs in lower case or redirect the, on same on using .htaccess.

9. Keep fewer sub folders

You can keep as many sub folders as you want. But, if you keep fewer sub folders than it's more better.

10. Use hyphen or underscore as word separator

A couple of years back, underscore was considered as word separator. But now you can use both hyphen and underscore as word separators.
