David Headley Testifies For First Time Before Mumbai Court
David Coleman Headley's deposition over the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack entered its fifth day on Saturday.
Pakistani-born American LeT agent, told the court that ISI's Major Iqbal had requested that he visit Indian Army's Southern Command base camp in Pune. Major Iqbal needed me to recruit somebody from the Army to share classified information. Nikam said that Headley was requested that by Major Iqbal recruit the general population from Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) so as to gather private data from that point.
Here are the disclosures made by Headley so far in the deposition that is in progress-
1) From March 11, 2009 to 13 March 2009, Headley went to Pushkar in Rajasthan where he made a video of the city including Chabad House.
2) From March 16 2009 to March 17, he stayed in the Hotel Surya Villa in Pune.
3) When he was in Pune, he went to the Indian Army installation characterizing it as the 'central command of the Southern Command of the Indian Army'.
4) Major Iqbal from the ISI advised Headley to the visit the Indian Army installation in Pune to recruit individuals from the Indian Army to get ordered data.
5) When he was in Pune, Headley made a general video of the city including the Indian Army installation and the Chabad House.
6) On March 3, 2009, Headley sent an email to Dr.Tahawwur Rana, with the subject on the mail 'Headley's personal will' which he had executed.
7) Headley said that he sent the will since he was doing a reversal to India again and he felt that he would be killed or arrested.
8) Headley came back to India despite having anxieties of being arrested.
9) Headley concedes, gulati22@hotmail.com was his email id and rare.lemon@gmail.com was Sajid Mir's email id and they used to trade mails.
10) On eighth July, Headley sent a mail to Sajid Mir where he made a query inquiring as to whether the vast majority of the problem has been fathomed for his 'uncle and his friends'.
11) In this mail, David Headley refers Hafiz Saeed as "Uncle" and Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi as "his friends".
12) Headley said that he sent this mail on the grounds that after the terror attack in Mumbai, the Pakistan Government did an investigation.
13) On 8 July 2009, Headley wrote in mail "how is uncle getting along'? to which Sajid Mir answered "Uncle is doing admirably and flying high".
14) The mail that was composed from gulati22@hotmail.com included "old uncle (Hafiz Saeed) got H1 Virus as well? Specialist in healing center needs to surrender check"
15) Headley said that the mail demonstrated that an investigation may be requested on them prompting their arrest, so he got concerned for Hafiz Saeed.
